From an article in Text Xpore, (see link below) Computer scientist at the DOE’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory, are looking at how to connect super computers to quantum computers to try and solve problems in a more efficient manner.
The Oak Ridge laboratory is home of “Frontier” the fastest super computer in the world at this time. Even with the fastest super computer, they can not solve equations relating to electron orbits of atoms, for more than a few electrons. The mathematics of this does not translate to a way to do that with the O/1 on off type architecture of a standard PC, even the super fast one.
Quantum computers hold some promise to solving those types of complex equations.
The study by this laboratory looks at ways to connect the traditional super computer to new technology quantum computers. Having a lot of experience at that laboratory, with super computers, should aid them in this process
Regarding this research or idea, consider that AI computers are known to “hallucinate”. We are thinking plugging the quantum computer into the world’s fastest super computer, might be a bit like “feeding it mushrooms” at first. As the quantum computers are very weird. So the combination here, might really come up with some “weird stuff” for the first year or two?
IMHO
[Note on the above, the analogy of feeding the computer “mushrooms” ends there, especially if you are from the FBI or DEA]
